I have a jensen unit in my car... I regret getting it. Biggest annoyances:

      - when you turn off the car mid-song and turn it back on, it'll start from the beginning of the song
      - when you start the car with volume of 0 and turn it up, it'll take like 3 seconds before the sound will kick in. One time I turned up the volume almost all the way, then the sound came on like 3 seconds later and almost blew my speakers

stopped by 6ave on the way back from work yesterday

saw a sweet head unit Pioneer DEX-P99RS

it's pricey, but you can pick up it's predecessor, the Pioneer Premier DEH-P800PRS or DEH-P880PRS for under $200 on eBay.

it looks amazing in person, interface is pretty straightforward, and the 2 knobs look OEM. supposedly the SQ is supposed to be phenomenal. the only downside is that you can't change the illumination color to match the amber and bluetooth is an add-on option.

just put this in my car:

I'm pretty happy with it, and it's not super expensive. Also, the colors match the gages very well.

I have this. Is actually a pretty nice head unit, for the price, and works in our interiors.

Thanks for the USB unit suggestions.
What do i need as far as wiring harness and brackets goes? Y'know, installing the thing.

Don't give a crap about the radio antenna though, pretty sure i'm going to shave it anyway.

No such thing as an E30 harness, you gotta get custom on it.

What car with what level stereo package you got?

I'm pretty sure just the base stereo. No tweeters, CDs, or anything special. Just that stupid anti-theft feature.
And i'll be picking up that pioneer unit on this page.

you should check out the kenwood x945 that is one nice looking HU. Pretty sure that is what i am going with.

Base model car makes it kinda easier: pull your fader out and unplug it. Unwrap the fader harness until you see the junction point where all the speaker grounds join: seperate them and you have all 4 corners.

Remember black stripes on a colored wire (not brown) are positive in BMWs.
