I've been noticing a very definite change in the feel and attitude of R3VLimited.com lately, and I just felt like I should comment on it. It seems to me like the overall demeanor of the board is really getting very pleasant. New members are popping up all the time, and it seems like tech questions are getting answered very promtly and with great info. The overall feel of random discussions are getting better, and there seems to be much less flaming going on.
Something that really got me stoked was the response to a request for an Oregon meet at the end of February, which is when I get my new E30. It's gotten a huge response, and there are even several guys driving down from Washington to come. I've also been told by several of the guys coming, that it's mainly to be there to see my new car. I can't help but say that the community we have is just awesome. TJ made a comment in another thread about how it was cool that at any given time, we pretty much know all the mods that another member has done to their car. That sense of community was really lacking here for a long time. But it's come back in a big way, and it makes me feel good to be a part of a community that is so supportive of it's members.
When Jordan's tranny broke down 300 miles from home in Olympia, Washington, James Crivellone was there. He drove almost 2 hours at 11pm to bring Jordan a transmission, and then stayed on with the guys until almost 5am, putting it in. And he even told Jordan not to worry about paying him for it until he could. On the same night, Matt325is hooked me up with a brand new set of dual valve springs, for a car I didn't even have yet. He told me not to worry about paying him right yet, and even now when I ask him, 7 months later, he just tells me "whenever, it doesn't matter". Slammed_E30 drove 2 hours down from WA to meet me in Portland, to deliver a front valence I bought from him. And I won't even get into how many times Jordan has driven almost 2 hours over here to help me with any and every E30 issue I've had.
I don't know what inspired to me make this post, but like I said, the feel of the board lately has just been so awesome, and so welcoming. It seems like whenever someone has an issue, everyone is always right there, ready to run in and help in any way they can, be it on the board or on the road. I've been fortunate enough to meet almost 30 members from here, and formed great friendships with several of them. Jordan is one of my best friends, and has been for almost 3 years now, and several others have become great friends as well.
