    Quoted from experience?

My car is retrofitted, in Florida summers 95 degrees and 80% humidity I'd have to adjust the heat cause it was too cold.

yes, r12 condensers aren't really designed for r134. you really have to replace everything to efficiently run r134 in an older car, and that costs a crapload.

wow wasnt r12 like 100$ a lbs not too long ago?

i would also like to refer people to this thread and the two useful PDFs there: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1225303

notice in the second PDF that r134a systems blow COLDER than r12 systems. Im not sure if this includes retrofitted systems also however.

Or just run the synthetic 134a+ that you can get at most autoparts stores. IT has a lube built in and works fine with older systems.

    Its like $20 a can.

I put this in my eta and it was cold for 2 years until i scrapped it. all you need are the adapters to fill it, they are usually in the same isle and about $15 bucks.

Just get Duracool. Best $20 I ever spent. Or drive to TJ and get it refilled with R12. Don't get shot.

How much R12 do you need? I might be up there at the end of the month.

Otherwise drive down to TJ, just make sure they don't fill up your system with propane.

Found the receipt. With a new $700 r134a-ready compressor, it came to $1459.55 total.

(which is about what I paid for the car, 2 years later :3)

You can do a full install of Freeze12 for under $100. The kit is $70 retail, can be had for about $40 on ebay.

It is colder than R12 and 100% environmentally "safe", and safer to use than freon.

I don't mind sweating. It's natural. I think it's weird that people have grown so attached and accustomed to things like A/C.
