Buy duracool from the great white north. They have plenty of cold so send you cheap. I bought some Canadian cold, pumped it into the '30, and it's quite happy. I've been using it already to help keep the fog on the outside of my car.

    ryann,

beleive it or not the system still has pressure...so i dont think there is a leak. now it might spring one when it is fully charged...
i think this might not be a diy project...

The primary problems with 134A in an R12 system are that their compressor lubricants are incompatible, and normal operating pressures are different. There is a product called "Hot Shot" that is compatible with R12 compressors/filter driers and the oils they use. Any experienced refrigeration mechanic will be familiar with this gas. Although it was not marketed as an automotive refrigerant, I have used it to recharge uncontaminated automotive R12 systems with success. Your main issue will be charging your system with nitrogen in order to figure out where your R12 went. Fix that issue first, then pump down and recharge.

im convinced that ES-12a is the best solution and it's what im going to with if i can find it locally. it's cheap, much more efficient, easier on the compressor, doesnt leak as well and not anymore flammable than r134a.

    for example:
