I love mine. Improved throttle response, def. smoothed out my idle (the afm was crap, main reason I got the MAF conversion). Dunno how much the actual chip adds, but I do the thing screams at the top end now. Added the MAF conversion with a k&N cone filter and custom heat shield at the same time. For me, it was worth the $300 bucks.

They are great when you are driving the car the way it was meant to be driven, but if you just drive around town without spinning the motor up they run rich enough to foul the plugs FAST. It has been enough of an issue that both are considering removing the system and returning to the stock setup.

Of course, this issue is sort of characteristic of S14's anyway. The Miller system might have amplified this tendency though. Just thought I'd mention that.
My car runs (ran) a little rich too on the preset 19lb injector setup, enough to be noticeable on the spark plugs, but definitely not serious enough to see black smoke and/or seriously foul the plugs.

The reason for this was explained somewhere in the Miller literature/website, apparently the preset tunes are supposed to be a *little* rich, in order to accomodate the diversity of cars that will be using the setup without immediately custom tuning. Apparently a little rich is just a waste of gas and/or not optimal HP output, whereas a little lean can wreak havoc on your engine.

At least this is what I recall reading, haha, if someone could chime in or shut me up that'd be great.

Either way, the point of the MAF+WAR is to custom tune it anyway, so if it's running rich then I'd just tune it differently (or have it tuned differently at a shop). Miller's really helpful, I'm sure they could address that proble. And I'd probably check things like spark plug gap too.

naplm00 let me know what u think...also...I'm serious about getting this..have done some research...seems mostly positive...what would ur guys suggestions be for getting bigger injectors? for the 2.7i + cam...the MAF can push more air...so i should push more fuel right?

            Im doing a set of
            Bosch/Ford 19# 4 pintile design 3 injectors
            miller MAF stock size
            miller 19# chip
            K&N
            scrubbed in and out intake

this is goin along with a magnaflow headerpipe set and cat and a scorpion catback, I will also be replacing all the gaskets on the intake side and the bitch tube

I also am running manual steering and no AC (single belt baby!) an an electric fan

Ill let you know what happens.

On a side note, i recent changed over to the 173 ECU from a 153 and noticed thet m MPG and smooothness of the engine increased.

When I spoke to Brody at Miller he said that the 19# are really not needed, BUT the change from the single spray pattern to the newer 4 pintile would be an improvement.

I also woanted a younger set of injectors, my car starts hard and rough when be restarted after the engine is hot. This only happens once in blue moon and when it does the exhaust is fuely smelling, I think i may have a leaky injector currently

Is there any advantage from going with the Miller MAF over IE's setup? My name's Miller too, so I guess if they give me free shipping that could be the deciding factor. :)

I ended up choosing the MS setup rather than going with the WAR chip. Apparently it can't be tuned on the fly? For any significantly modified engines, that would be pretty inconvenient.

I just wanted to mention that the early GenII MAF conversions for the m3 were known to be different for every e30 M3 in terms of AFR. However, with GenIII/M (The current MAF conversions) the s14 MAF conversion is totally resolved and rock solid. We found what the problem was and resolved it completely in the ECU.

Thanks to everyone who gave honest reviews of the product!:)

No, all brand name chips are tuned for the Stock Air Flow Meter, it will run, but it will run poorly with a MAF. The Performance MAF chip comes with our MAF Conversion so that your car will actually run properly with the different sensor.

We have sold around 5 or 6 for the M3, same amount for the M5/M6's... We sell dozens of normal (non M car) MAF conversions monthly, but we haven't really started to advertise/push the GenIII/M yet. VSR in NH, can vouch for the GenIII/M kits if you call them up.
