Maybe you guys can help me with this. I wish I had some pictures because it would probably make things a little easier. Anyways my father got a call from a friend of his, now this German dude was the founder of Continental Cars here, which is a large BMW dealership serving Port Elizabeth in South Africa. Anyways he said that he wants to sell one of his cars. So he tells my dad that it’s a special E36 M3. So my dad is always looking for a deal so he went over to the guys place to have a look, this is where it gets different. Firstly the doors, bonnet and trunk are aluminium, and the engine is producing 300hp and it does a 0-100km/h in 5.5. Other changes are a special gear ratio, cloth seats and 18”/19” wheels. The interior is standard M3 otherwise. And remember this car is stock from the factory like this. He wants to sell this car because his wife (64) only uses it on the weekends to do her shopping, and she blows away ricers at the robots with it so he reckons she’s going to kill herself. He is 73 and he says it hurts his back. It’s a 1995 model with 80000km on the clock, he wants R170000 ($25500) for it, my dad offered him R130000 ($21000). One last thing it costs R40000 ($6500) a year, or every 10000km to service it at the dealers. This was the last car he had brought in for himself before he sold the dealership. So what you think it is? Maybe a more road going example of a M3 CLS? Or a one off or what?

The M3 LTW? If I recall correctly, there were VERY few 'light weight' M3s produced. And even fewer than that were ever sold. They were stripped down of a lot of the luxury items (I think even AC) and given a lot of aluminum body-panels as well as a more powerful engine. Most people who were considering buying a bmw didn't want a stripped down one, not to mention that they were quite a bit more money than the regular M3.
