Check for a vacuum leak...what's the jerking like? My car jerked violently when I went wot. I had a crack in my intake tube...I don't have a turbo...but could be a possibility. Or just ignore this post.

It jerks like there is a lack of ignition. When I ease off the gas and lower the RPM's its okay again.

Can anyone tell me where the MAP sensor is located? I can't find it.

          Dude

Your in way over your head if you don't know where the MAP sensor is on a Megasquirt. You need to do some reading over there at the Megasquirt web site. But for now...

The map sensor is on the PCB in the Megasquirt box. Depending on what version MS you have, the map sensor may be for NA (version 1) or I think 2 bar (version 2 and higher I think). What it sounds like what is happening is your going too lean for the tune on your Megasquirt. You are going to melt pistons that way. What are your AFR readings on your wide band o2 sensor?

Didn't mean to sound like a dick.

You don't sound like a dick. The car had a megasquirt when I bought it, and I have absolutely no experience with it at all.

            Thanks for the help

the first thing you should do when having tuning issues with Megasquirt is to save a copy of your MSQ and get a datalog of the issue you're experiencing. Then go to www.msextra.com and ask for help there. Asking for tuning advice on this forum is like asking a bunch of monks for advice on a good hooker.

starting to figure some shit out..... my buddy and I got the megasquirt connected to a laptop and working. Here is an iphone pic of what it looked like using a tuning software downloaded off the internet. It's pretty cool, showed all the gauges and whatnot, there are also plenty of settings. There's one for "fuel enrichment" and for every temperature of the engine theres a percent of fuel which is injected in, if I raise this, could it fix my issue? I did go for a drive with it plugged in, and the needle in the air:fuel gauge did show I was running a little lean.

i wouldn't trust that AF gauge unless you know it's calibrated.

you could definitely stand to do some reading on www.msextra.com. I'd also suggest saving a copy of your tune (file - save as in megatune), and datalog of the car driving, post it up over there and see if you can get some general help.

                      Its the crank pickup wire,
I figure'd I'd post it here to help others if they search.

The car has a VR sensor (crank sensor) from a ford escort, there should be a wire ran from the XLR (microphone) plug to the VR sensor on the pass side.

Just go to radioshack or any electronics store and get the best microphone wire they have (any 1pair shielded cable will do though) as long as it has 2 wires and a good shield it'll be ok.

just replace the existing, be sure to mark which wire goes where on both ends of this cable, or else you might be 'screwed' solder the shield to the xlr plug side, and snip it off at the sensor side. It's brought to ground in the plug.
This is an issue that the previous owner had after about a month of buying it, which is why I know the solution :D

Also, Like I said, read about the LC-1 system and you'll probably have to buy a replacement O2 sensor, nothing major.

And dont bother turning the boost down, you can't, its as low as possible, rather, turn it up! read about the megasquirt system and crank it to 15-20 psi. (with a tune of course)

If you're out driving, you'll notice that at around 3500-4000rpm and about 33% throttle input, the turbo will spool and you'll get a 'scramble' boost mode. This car does have an electronic boost control, however it's very limited. I made sure to tune it so that it only increases boost on cruse under load, it does a great job of getting you over slight inclines, and sounds cool as hell as you watch the boost peak at 20psi. (21psi is the upper limit of your map sensor, so :P)
