    Will this help?

Made it in metal shop. It's 1/16 in. stainless with 3/16 in. holes. The car currently has a cone filter. My question is, will it help get more air to the filter? And what will be the benefit of this, performance wise?

That's what I plan on doing, but before I even put it on I want to know if this would be beneficial.

the argument is that the stock air box flows better than an exposed/heatsheilded filter in the engine bay. Someone posted actual temp numbers a while ago and it seems that the stock airbox, though it doesnt look as cool or sound as cool, actually flows and cools better.

Really? Even with the stock paper filter?

Just get a k&n drop-in filter and you're done. There's a reason K&N cold air intakes are only $100 lol. If you don't plan on tuning your car, I wouldn't mess with the air/fuel ratio at all. I don't know much about tuning right now, but I've always said to myself "Okay, I really don't know what I'm doing, so until I do, stock is best." As you can imagine I havn't had any problems yet! :D
