post pics of a stromung cat-back

If you guys have any can you please post some pics of the stromung exhaust for the e30? Also some pics of it on e30s. Also, is it annoyingly loud? or nice, just a little more then stock? Thanks.

    (Left side).

    (Thanks Dave Adams)

Ask Jon (Jon325i) because he installed that muffler on his car.

What is the difference between the two?
Besides that one is cleaner then the other.

One is a Stromung exhaust all polished and the other is a Supersprint exhaust with the canister painted black (thats how it comes).

          Did somebody ring? ;)

Yes....its true....I have Dave Adams' Stromung cat-back on my car now. I haven't taken any pics of it since the install (although the pics Aaron posted of Dave's car are quite sufficient). What I can tell you about it is that its a direct bolt in system utilizing all the factory mounting points and hardware (read: no fabrication needed)....so putting one in your car is no more difficult than swapping stock systems. Once installed everything is tucked in nicely and looks as if the factory put it there. Some additional details....

Build quality: Very good. All welds are high quality work and the stainless steel materials are first rate. There's a reason why the Stromung commands a higher price than most systems.....you simply get what you pay for. I don't expect this system to give me any problems for a long time. The dual round exhaust tip design looks good on E30s and they point straight from the back versus angled like the stock system (or SuperSprint). I believe the tips are 83mm in diameter.

Sound quality: A nice tuned sound.....not loud or irritating like many Ricer fart-cat systems you've seen (and heard). From idle and revving through the gears, it produces a deep burble-like tone that seems to soften a bit as the motor runs between 2500rpms and 4000rpms. After 4K on the tach it gets louder again, but like I said its nothing obnoxious. This increased exhaust note stays like that all the way to redline. I'm really enjoying it a lot.

A few people have ridden in my car since I installed it and everyone has said how much they like sound it produces......same goes for those who have heard it as I drive by. If you can find a good condition used one snatch it up ASAP. If you plan on buying new, check out http://www.understeer.com. They seems to have the best deal going on these.

          Hope this helps.

What about the rear skirt, did you have to cut a little wider so both tips would fit?

I love the exhaust. I'm a little worried about how far they stick out of the bumper. The pics seem to show the exhaust kinda hidden in there. They dont seem to stick out far enough. Is that fixable.... i really like the exhaust, and other then that i'm sold.

It doesnt stick out far in the pic because it is on a MTech. It would stick out a little farther on a non mtech car.

I LOVE the sound of my Stromung. Absolutely love it. Over my x-mas break, I'll get some pics up for the first time ever and maybe make some sounds clips (interior and exterior @ idle, cruising speed, and WOT through the first couple gears).
Mine however looks slightly different. I got my Stromung with the DTM tips (+$20 -- not actually offered, but they'll do it upon request), and it doesn't have the resonationg design (is that what it is?) in the tips. My tips are just bare stainless steel straight through. I also saw a big increase in highway gas mileage. City driving, however, remains rather shitty.

I have about 2,000 miles on my Stromung and I'll have to agree with Jarvis, it does sound really amzing. It is perfect compared to others, Supersprint and B&B.

Hmmm..... i'm thinking about getting an Mtech 2 or 1 on my car. Can i do something to make the tips stick out a little. If not can you guys post soem pics of the mtech 2 on the ground with the exhaust? Thanks

Well, you could always just bring it to a custom exhaust place and have them weld on new tips for you.

And I agree on the sound of these things being just amazing. I've ridden in, driven, and been passed by Jarvis' 325is on multiple occasions and I have to say, he has the best sounding car I have ever heard. Ever. It makes the most unbelievably awesome sound at WOT in third gear. Just...orgasmic. :D Its sound sick when downshifting and engine braking a little, too. I'm definitely getting one as soon as I can scrounge together the 600 bux.

The exhaust cutout on the rear skirt of the M-Tech kit is offset to the left a bit to properly accommodate the angled tips of a stock exhaust system. On non M-Tech cars the tips of the Stromung are centered in the cutout of the metal lower rear valance. In terms of how far they protrude out from the valance, its not all that much. They do not exceed the edge of the bumper so (in my opinion) it looks proper.....perhaps about 2" beyond the valance cutout at the most.

I miss my stromung exhaust dearly.

I was running a DEC cat with Stromung exhaust when I had my m20 engine. The sound was glorious! At idle and at low revs you would think I had a v8 in the engine bay. In midrange it sounded like an E3 M3. Ring it out to 6,900 and you started to get a prosche type soundwave.

I miss the sound so much. The closest sound clip I have found is from aatuning.com Check out their Gen3 E36 M3 exhaust. That is very close to an E30 with a Stromung.

I currently am rocking an E30 supersprint exhaust with E36 iron manifolds and E36 Cat. However shortly I will be sorting Alminum tublar manifolds with no cat, resonator, and E30 supersprint system. Hopefully this will open it up a bit.
