    Maplight Retro Fit...

So, I'm reading the DIY retrofit for the maplight mirror. I can't find these parts that it says i need. Anyone know where to get them? I've checked Radio Shack and Fry's and cant find that plug on the internet.

Has anyone done this before? Enlighten me please. I want maplights!!!

Unfortunately not true...it 'may' have become standard on the later cars where the mirror would have been part of a trim package upgrade, but I know on a few '87's the factory plug wasn't there and the wiring had to be spliced in.

I have had mine sitting in my garage for months and still haven't installed it. Can someone shed some light on the pre-wired plug? My car is a 1991. And I can't seem to get the stock rear view mirror out.

Pull hard. Towards one side...it will pop out...its in there good.

Who can shed light on this?

There is a plug in harness that allows this to be plug and play. I dont know the PN for the harness but you can probably pull it from a junked car that came with the mirror.

anyone have a PN for this?

I spliced it into my lighter because I knew for sure it was 12v, others have probably spliced into the check panel and dome lights though.

methinks you're referring to the wiring that is "supposed to be" already in your right front a-pillar? You're looking for that plug?
Obviously you can't find it. If so, then you need to get a harness from another car, it should go from front driver's speaker to the mirror plug-in area in the roof.

OP do you have a sunroof? I spliced my escort 8500 into the + and - of the sunroof and have had no issues, plan I doing the same when I eventually get a map light.
