anyone think an e36 m3 will ever go up in value
just asking since this is now on the chopping block for money/space issues. In a round about way I sold a 1990 e30 325is alpine white on black winter package had heated seats and ski pass to get a 96 m3...never really even drove it. Never had the same feel as the e30 and was way too stiff for my taste. I have 3 e30's now and still would like to get rid of the e36 first!
Any thoughts on this....
1. e36 m3 values-will they ever go up?
2. should I try to get rid of one of my e30's first even though I'd rather drive anyone of them over the e36. The e30's are a stroker, stock 325is, and a vert
3. does it suck to grow old and "responsible"...?

1. Maybe, but mostly just the engine at this rate ;)
2. You'll regret it but refer to #3.
3. A tiny bit.Need a part? PM me.

We sold it because my wife started a daycare, and needed a minivan to be able to haul all of the kids around in. Laugh if you want, this little thing was a kick in the ass to drive.
My first car, cept it was a 94, 1.6 manual in gunmetal with all the trim a matching plastic-dip type colour.
Fuck yea that was an awesome car, wicked around town, nippy as all hell, perfect for loading up and taking away for the weekend - though it was kinda gutless, I still got to to break the old ton (holy fuck it was scary, topped out at a gps verified 167kph).
They were the best "soft roader" for over a decade, and could go places that heaps of off roaders couldn't. Lock the hubs and you're away laughing.
My friends still lament its passing, if I still had it, it would be turbo by now, there was so much bloody room in the bay for a GT28.

My old Dodge Neon. Now, stick with me. It was an ACR model. I spent a lot of time wrenching on her, spent 4 years actively participating in the SCCA Solo2 scene in Los Angeles. Actually managed to place 7th overall in the STS class one year. Much fun, much memories. She saved me a few times when I (or someone else) did something stupid. She was always poised even when all hell is breaking loose.
Ended up selling it to a coworker's kid for his first car (junior/senior in high school). For a few months after that I just was having some regrets. 10 years of good memories all gone.
I still see her from time to time. Talked to the kid and one time, after he had just gotten the car, he was laughing as he's all hot shit now because of all the mods on the car (having a fully-adjustable coil-over suspension apparently gets you +rep in high school).
But now I got a new project, and a new car. Here's hoping for her to treat me as well as my Neon did.

I had a 1999 Impreza L. I poured a lot of blood, sweat, tears, money into it. It was my hobby and I enjoyed it very much. It had an 02 WRX motor, VF34 turbo, and almost every suspension mod you can think of. 22 pillowballs total, it tracked like it was on rails. I made the writeup of how to install STi control arms on early impreza bodies. It had a lot of mix and match parts and was truly a frankenstein. Only 274awhp (untuned) but was peppy enough and very much fun. Loved to autocross and rallycross.
Sold it because I decided I needed to go back to school, stop living at home, and do something for my career. The person I sold it to had instantly fragged the gearbox drag racing his friends EVO. A couple months down it started burning oil (I used AMSOIL and never had a problem...ever). He sold it within 5 months for less than half of what I sold it.
It had parts that are impossible to find now such as solid aluminum steering rack mounts (usually theres a bushing there), solid aluminum outrigger bushings etc etc...
The heartbreaker:
I was unable to start university studies immediately and had to work for a year to gain in state residency for tuition. While I was working two jobs, I could have easily kept the car and it would have saved me from having to take the bus 3 hours/day to and from school for the past 3 years.
If I spend as much time and care on a car (as in my e30 now), the only way it's going to leave my ownership is if it's totaled. I'd rather let it sit than let someone else destroy it.
RIP

Funny, I always figured there was nothing special about how those arms bolted up to any Subaru... They all go on the same in my experience, at least. Quite a common mod over here too.
Those trailing arms look ok though. What lateral arms did you have? Were they adjustable?Pork Hunt Motorsport

The front control arms don't just pop in because the front bushing sizes vary. All 93-01 imprezas use a 55mm bushing and the GD+ uses a 61mm bushing (and also takes the double ball joint front endlink due to design). I just took the time to measure, press, and install documenting the entire process with alignment specs and how it changed since it increased the track width up front. I got +6 caster with the PSRS and MRT c/c plates without even doing the "free caster" mod of flipping the rear transverse link mount bolted to the control arm.
I was a test mule for Poltec when they released their overpriced lateral links (you can actually build your own for about $200, minus the endlink boxes).
If you notice in the picture, i've managed to crack their endlink box, they have since re-designed, sent me new ones and now have disappeared.
Trailing arms are adjustable, but was left untouched. It wasnt much lighter weight, but was still pillowball.Originally posted by FredKHowever, in your absence, I will likely sit in your seat buck naked while making racecar noises as if I were maxing your E30 out on the Mulsanne Straight while allowing the perforated vinyl to soak up my butt sweat (going 200 mph does that to you).

No regrets on selling .I have regrets on putting so many mods than selling.
I also regret what i did to a camaro i used to own.It was a 1997 ss 30th ann one of 104 built slp.I completely gutted and changed most everything on it to drag race.I feel guilty i ruined the car.I kind off regret all the mods to my e36 m3. for the money i put in this car i could have 4 cool e30s or 2 e30s and couple 2002s.

not necessarily regret, but i do miss my e30, as well as my mark 3 jetta. the jetta was my first car, and i just recently got rid of it (22 now, had it since i was 16)
i had a whole bunch of work into it, boosted, hardwood trunk, lowered, rewrapped suede interior, recaro seats, i learned everything i know about cars on that thing
