    Supercharged E30's?

    G'day everyone,

Just posting to ask any of you guys if you know or have heard of anyone supercharging their E30 (or more specifically, E30 318iS). Also if anyone has (or knows of where I might find) any reviews on a supercharged E30 318iS, I would much appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.

Going by this 318i that I found, (yes M10, not M42), s/c's must be a good addition to an E30 4-pot because although this guy has spent some money on his internals, his Vortech V5 centrifugal supercharger is running at a low 6psi (or is it high for a blower? I know more about turbos, just interested in finding some more info about s/c's).

Thanks in advance for any help that you can offer me and below is an engine bay pic of this blown 318i. Please note that it makes approx 250rwhp. Not bad at all for 6psi, 1.8L and 8 valves!

        Anyway, any other photos???
Would like to know alternative supercharger other than the DA/SC...

250rwhp on a motor that had 115rwhp stock. 6psi won't do it! Try at least 12/13psi for 250rwhp.

Yup, M42 with newer style radiator and painted bumpers as well. With mis-information on the year and type of motor (BTW, 318i doesn't mean not M42, just not 318is) there is potential for other mis-information as well.

That engine could also be an M40, although that was never used in US E30's. Euro 318i had that from ~ '88.

                250rwhp @ 6psi from a 1.8 can't be correct or I'm buying a 318 immediately. :D

You're right, that manifold does look different.. I'm again with the "It's a M42"-people. :)

I was thinking the same thing, it looks like an H.R. Giger painting in there.

BTW, isn't the M40 the engine from the 316i, not the 318i?

How? The 318i is 1.8 liters and the 316i is 1.6 liters. Were there different size variants of the M40, like with the 2.7 and 2.5 M20's?
