Thanks for your responces guys, the article on the car is located at:

Even after you guys cleared me up on the fact that is an M42 (which makes sense because it was a late '91 model), 250rwhp (156rwkw) is a heck of a lot of power for a 1.8L. It would be very fun! Also, does anyone here know of any other article(s) on a supercharged E30 M42? I have heard that there may be one or two articles floating around about an E30 318iS with a TDI powertuning s/c'er but I am unaware of where I might find them. Can any of you guys offer me some advice?

Thanks once again for clearing things up,

CAPA did all the work, and apparently it was a really shonky effort....had to be rebuilt like twice....the new owner, a young kid, has the number plate M3 and tells ppl that it is an m3..tosser....

Ohh, thanks for the info Jake. I knew that Capa were responsible for the supercharger but I wasn't aware that they built the whole motor up as well so thanks for that.

Tosser alright! Almost as bad as a 325i (that was for sale recently) with an M3 badge on the boot lid. It looked nice and all but at the end of the day, a 325i is a 325i NOT an M3.

the car is nice.....and it seems to have a Mtech kit, but the sides are different-like.

            11. Thou shalt not put ///M badges on a non-M car!
That idiot should not have put it on...... come on, a nice looking E30, but nothing too crazy + awesome power = SLEEPER!

nah sorry...i didnt mean capa build the motor...Michael McMichael did the engine work, then later on it went up to capa for the vortech. then it was fixed later on somewhere else.

but that car was done a while back, capa are better nowadays.

capa also did and e36 318iS, with an eaton blower....stock motor, low booost, and it puts down about 110kW at the rears. i think i have a connection at capa, my friend is(was) a rep for them, and he has a blown LS1 VX Commy....i was gonna see what sorta price a setup like the e36 would go for...il let ya know if i find out. wont be til im back in ADL tho, around Chrissy time.

I saw an 87 325is the other day at Hurless - it had M3 badges on the back NEXT to the 325is symbol, and one up front.

I HATE it when people do this. Either take it off all together, or leave the original on there - what's the point? You coulda put the money for the M3 badges towards Euro grilles or something.

Not a bad looking car overall - not too fond of the side skirts though.

Yep, M badges on a NON-M car definately don't belong together!

Hey thats cool Jake, I just misunderstood (sorry about that). I wasn't sure if thats what you meant because I have seen some of CAPA's work and they seemed to very well desgined and made so thanks for clearing that up!

I was gonna see what sorta price a setup like the e36 would go for...il let ya know if i find out. wont be til im back in ADL tho, around Chrissy time.
That would be great if you could get a rough price estimate, I would be very interested to find out what a system like that would go for!

                  Thanks again,

Actually to be acurate, the m20 saw displacements from 2.0 to 2.7 from the factory :)

There are many tuning shops in Europe that sell Rotrex centrifugal S/C kits for E30's....below is a link to one of them, but they only show 210bhp results with an M42.....not much info on the sites but an email to PLR could get you more details. The supercharged 2.5L M50 only nets 260bhp.

I was going to go this S/C route with my 2.0L engine but then decided to go 3.0L stroker instead. Now I'm thinking of still adding the S/C on the 3.0L engine....should be fun ;)

Thanks for the link Chris and I'm sure you'll have stacks of fun with a 3.0L s/c E30! I'd be interested to know how much hp you gain when you finish the project,
