Yeah you never see a bmw snap a motor mount and put the alt fan through a rad hose leading to an overheat and warped head.

The only problem with newer vw's is the fwd factor.

Read what you quoted from me one more time and see if it sinks in.

Do me a favor, go search my user name ( pigsdofly ) on the VWvortex and tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. Better yet go post your question and conclusion to your problem up in the 8v forum there and post a link back here so we can all watch an epic thread in progress.

Ben, The solid lifter cars have the "missing" cap.
It was deleted on the hydro 8v heads.

I already told you what happened. Something was poured in that engine that was not oil. Either you did it, or it happened before you got the car and its just now caused a failure. Heat did not cause that cover to melt.

Dood, he said he has changed the oil more than once, and I have seen many covers fried to the cams in multiple different engines, one was an m50. It does happen, a plugged oil passage thru the head to the cam journal would build up heat, melting the cover. Oil heat is different than 3600rpm metal on metal heat. Not saying that was the issue, but an example of how it could be mechanical and not "wrong-oil-fluid" BS you are trying for, if that were the case, then the whole cover would have melted.

Please, tell me what other than heat causes things to melt.

Your vehicle is already heavily front biased in weight distribution and vr6's in stock form are not axle eating torque monsters by any means, massively boosted yes you will have trouble with axles not to mention actually putting the power down.

I know its already front heavy, and I don't much like it. So adding to that alot is not something I would much want to do. I know a stock vr isn't something that will trash axles, but I have herd that when dropped into an mk1 that the axles have alot of problems. And the car is so light that getting the power to go anywhere would be a whole other mess. I'm leaning on going 2.0 and giving it some boost somewhere down the line.
