I've been looking all over Craigslist and eBay,but haven't found one. Anyone have any idea where to get one?

...you will not find a "GTI" rally. They is no such thing. Try looking for a "GOLF" rally. Be prepared to shell out BIG BUCKS - IF you can find one. I'm not sure if they ever came to the US or not. I could be wrong though.

What Hartge said, check www.vwvortex.com . Are you refering to a Golf Rallye? If you are, great car! Very rare & very expensive (relatively speaking). A veritable precursor to the R32.

As far as i know they were never imported here to the US so the ones here r normally built cars. People would take a GTI and get all the body panels ship over from europe. As for a real one. Find one in europe and ship i home. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

As stated above, they were never sold stateside, though there are a few over here now. Of the limited number of Rallye's here, you could probably count the legally imported ones on one hand..

i'm switching to active duty this summer and am seriously considering requesting a spot in germany just so i can import 2 RHD euro-spec cars a year. the possibilities are endless... pick your flavor of whatever-we-never-got-here. golf rallye, 325ix touring, e36m3 with a real engine, impreza wrx with a real engine, etc...

There was one on the samba a couple months ago. IIRC it was 4-5k with no engine of course but who cares as long as the drivetrain and body are there.
