So I got 4 of these bad boys for free from an e30 m3 that someone crashed. 3 of the 4 wheels' lips are mangled but the 4th wheel is untouched. All the rubber is perfect as well and they have just 500 miles on at them most.
I am now in the process of refinishing the wheels and putting on the same sized lips so that I can reuse the tires that the wheels came with.
I want to throw them on the e30 I will be buying once I find it (Sterling Silver), and was wondering, if you were in my position, would you redrill these wheels to the 4 lug specs that will allow me to run these on a non-m3 e30 or would you just do a complete 5 lug conversion and then run these?
I don't want to go the adapter route and I already sourced out the rear z3 suspension components as well as the front e36 m3 components to make this conversion a success. All I'm missing is the car to work on.
So what do you think? Redrill to keep costs down and use money for engine swap, or 5 lug it and hustle some more $ til I save enough for the swap?
I have a wheel guy who does work for peanuts. I've seen him take wheels that are in the shape of an egg and and missing chunks and turn them back into perfection for almost nothing. Literally, peanuts.
