where does this wire go???

this wire comes off my harness, i dont know if it is a ground or belongs to something. i touched it to a wire with constant electricity and my dash lit up and i could hear my blower fans on low, but the keys were not in the car. any ideas????

It depends on what harness you have. Its either a ground that goes to the shock tower, or a power that goes to the power block on the firewall.

BTW, don't just randomly touch wires to power, that's what wire diagrams and multimeters are for.

if it were ground would it cause my dash to light up when it touches power? i believe my harness is out of a 325i e36.. if that helps

as far as i could tell it looks black. and kinda thick there is nothing to peel back so i can see.
