Obvious differences on 325i and 325ix???

Besides that it is 4WD, are there any things I should see to surely know it is really and ix and 4wd?

Any indicators in the dah or interior, switches?

I am looking at an 1989 today, what is the going price for an excellent condition - 4-Door, 95,000 original miles automatic?

fender flares, rocker panel trim, 15" basketweave wheels, not sure what else. Hopefully an ixer can chime in

look underneath for front half-shafts.

just open the hood and look on the passenger side.. you can see the half shaft below the exhaust manifolds. there are tons of differences but some are pretty subtle, I'm still finding unique parts and I've had mine for 3 years.

I don't know what the going price would be, but I paid $8,900 for my 1989 325iX, 56,000 miles, automatic, and excellent condition.

You'll pay exactly what you want for an iX. What are they asking for it?

I love my iX and I've owned a 1989 325is, and I still own a 1986 325ic.

Everyone needs to quit giving their two cents on automatics. He didn't ask about automatics.

if you dont want to bend over.... take a look under the hood.... the strut towers should be vertical..... they dont look normal

The battery is probably being drained because of a lose belt, failing alternator, or a bad battery. Try taking it to an Autozone or the like before you buy the car to have them to a test on the electrical system. I would assume the dash lights are dimming beause of the said above.

As far as the steering wheel shaking above 60mph, it could be a lot of things. Bent rim, wheels out of balance, bad tire, or suspension problems.

I'd say $3,000 is a VERY resonable price for a 325iX with that low of miles. Ask the owner aboit the transfer case and if its had a rebuild or any work done on it.

I'd say that's the number 1 dead giveaway. The strut towers are very very unique.

Don't forget the higher ride height (assuming it's stock).

Guys, anyone scoffing at buying a 95Kmi 325ix for only $3K because it has an auto tranny has obviously never looked for a good condition 5spd ix. Here in New England people can ask $5K+ for a 200Kmi 325ix and get it if it's a stick and in relatively good shape..

I really hate autos, but an ix with only 95,000mi for only $3,000 is a good find. You can always do a 5-speed swap in the future if you like.
