Texas has 3 of the 10 largest cities in the US population wise so its not like its in the middle of nowhere, plus prob like a 3hr flight max from anywhere in the lower 48. And I am sure land is relatively cheap there for construction of the track.

I am stoked about this news - but knowing Uncle Bernie - things can change, and change suddenly. However, Texas is a state that is home to numerous Fortune 500 companies so it wouldn't surprise me that the corporate dollars drew the F1 brass in this direction. Also, Texas doesn't have nearly the bureaucratic red tape like some states. Can you imagine a proposed F1 track in California? First there would be numerous & volumonous Environmental Impact Studies and Reports to conduct.....this will absorb millions upon millions of dollars and take 10 years to complete. Once that is done - if its actually approved - the NIMBY contingencies will step in and bitch & moan until they're blue in the face. Afterwards, it will find its way to a ballot in a local election, get shot down like a plane in flames, then you would have to start all over again. California is too hell bent on being green, too hell bent on perserving ones personal space and/or habitat...such an idea wouldn't fly. We are also very very business unfriendly too.

I hate how NIMBY contingents seem to wait until after a place is built and then have a problem with it. I am glad Belgium shot down the people that were pissed and tried to get Spa shut down. Belgium's viewpoint, "The track has been here for 90 years, you haven't, live somewhere else."
