    just a question about my 89 325i

i have never owned or known anything about E30s until now.

sold my 98 e36 M3 and found a 1989 325i not running in Savannah 3 months ago. grabbed a trailer and picked it up and immediately sourced an S52 engine/transmission as well.

i have not even got to drive the car yet at this point so last night i was swapping out the rear diff for an E28 3.25 LSD i bought locally, i went to swap diff covers and i noticed my diff read S4.10 meaning it was an LSD unit.

i thought 4.10 LSD diffs only came on IS models? the car is an automatic transmission car originally and it has nothing sport related to it. all stock tan comfort interior yet when i check my title to the car it reads 1989 325i/325IS AUT (yes no O on the end)

i double checked the 4.10 diff and it indeed is an LSD unit and both output flanges spin the same way together just as the 3.25 LSD i have.

its not a huge deal to me but i was just curious as to how this happened. i ran the VIN through 2 decoders and none of them list LSD as an option (not even sure if the VIN stores that information or not)

            it doesnt have heated seats.

the P.O. installed the lsd along with an IS valence, bav-auto hot air intake, bilsteins, and h&rs.

What diff does an 89 325i auto come with originally? My car was swapped from auto to manual by the PO and I have a 4.10 lsd also.

I thought you could get the 4.10 as an option?

4.10's came stock in m20b25 auto cars. LSD was an option from the dealership and not that uncommon to get.
