z3 1.9 steering rack, best place to ge one?

All z3 racks except the mz3 are the same. There are a few places on e-bay that sell them.

which one is the one people swap on e30 m3 the 1.9 rack,is that the mz3 or any z3?

The MZ3 rack is the same as the 96-99 M3 rack and almost identical to the regular E36 rack. The better rack is actually the Z3 non-M rack, as it's got the same travel, is linear and a higher rate. All Z3 non-m racks should be the same, but I'd confirm it just to be sure.

I was just researching this the other day as I plan on doing this in the near future. Here is a good thread explaining the different models and their mm/rev specs. It really explains how some people are fooled by the quick lock to lock of the 95 M3 rack when it is actually the slowest.

The 95 m3 had a vario-ratio means it changed it was quick for the chassis but prone to failure.
