    Are you serious, that little?

When I was a kid in LA, back in the late 60s, cruddy days meant my lungs hurt. When I moved back to San Diego from LA, it stopped hurting when we stopped having cruddy days.

      Wrong.

The sun has been cooling for the past 35 years.

I just got my college credit for environmental science, BTW.

You need to wake up and look around, there is way more SCIENCE coming out against the GW in general and really against the human caused shit. Its also starting to come out that all the structure and BIG proponents of it pushing it as nothing more than a system to redistribute wealth. That and use your common sense and deductive reasoning about all those that tell us the sky is falling and Ocean is going to rise a bizillion feet, but are buying beach front property in CA and FL, thats not a good move unless you know its not gonna happen.

You know that volcano in iceland, yeah that thing is emitting more co2 than all of humanity, so to stop the earth for getting hot, should we stop all energy production and use to off set for that???

you know that CO2 is like .03% of the atmosphere and make up less than 2% of all green house gasses, the most prevalent is water vapor. its 98% of all the green house gasses in the atmosphere, and something 4 times more efficient than co2 at trapping heat. Last time I checked plants need the co2 survive an make O2 for us to survive. Use some critical thinking please.

Kronus man, GW is a more politcal than anything this is why I will not discuss it here. You know this already though.

Water vapor is the most dominant greenhouse gas. Water vapor is also the most dominant positive feedback loop in our climate system, and amplifies any warming caused by changes in atmospheric CO2. This positive feedback loop is why Earth's climate is so sensitive to CO2 increases. If the levels of CO2 increase, then naturally more water will evaporate, and more vapor will be in the air. This vapor will cause more global warming.

Yes, manmade CO2 emissions are much smaller than natural emissions. Consumption of vegetation by animals & microbes accounts for about 220 gigatonnes of CO2 per year. Respiration by vegetation emits around 220 gigatonnes. The ocean releases about 332 gigatonnes. In contrast, when you combine the effect of fossil fuel burning and changes in land use, human CO2 emissions are only around 29 gigatonnes per year. However, natural CO2 emissions (from the ocean and vegetation) are balanced by natural absorptions (again by the ocean and vegetation). Land plants absorb about 450 gigatonnes of CO2 per year, and the ocean absorbs about 338 gigatonnes. This keeps atmospheric CO2 levels in rough balance. Human CO2 emissions upset the natural balance.

About 40% of human CO2 emissions are being absorbed, mostly by vegetation and the oceans. The rest remains in the atmosphere. As a consequence, atmospheric CO2 is at its highest level in 15 to 20 million years. A natural change of 100ppm normally takes 5,000 to 20.000 years. The recent increase of 100ppm has taken just 120 years.

Additional confirmation that rising CO2 levels are due to human activity comes from examining the ratio of carbon isotopes found in the atmosphere. Carbon 12 has 6 neutrons, carbon 13 has 7 neutrons. Plants have a lower C13/C12 ratio than in the atmosphere. If rising atmospheric CO2 comes from fossil fuels, the C13/C12 ratio should be falling.

Guess what? This is what is occurring. The C13/C12 ratio is falling, which correlates with the trend in global emissions.

So all of the buffalo killed between 1840 and 1900 should have radically lowered CO2 emissions (methane too) but that would have been just after the British having the huge explosion of factories...

Buffalo are a carbon sink, just like any other kind of biomass. By killing all of them, you release the carbon. The majority of them were killed only for their skins, the rest left to decay.

ok so all we need to do is build a hose to space and pump out the excess water. im down.

I find it interesting that the gov't used to have a division that was developed to battle global warming, yet once they discovered there's no such thing and that we are actually on a normal cycle, all the jobs were kept, but now they concentrate on energy consumption haha.

Coincidence that my client works for GSA told me about his brother's "title change" after this discovery, then I read a thread like this?

It's funny to see threads like this on car forums. Global warming is a VERY real phenomenon. I am an Engineer at JPL and we dedicate a lot of our time to researching climate change.

Earth will survive-just not with humans on it!

We are a oil addicted society, but by driving our 318's and keeping them in good tune we are doing our part :).

Could it be just thats now NASA's Primary Mission????? You know Proving human Induced climate change?????? To continue getting your funding, you have to show results?????

Thats the root cause of the human induced climate change to begin with. Fudged numbers and data to continue getting funding.

Since this is a now a Primary target of the Greenies and the left and our current Presidents agenda. They need data, to get their agenda of huge tax increases passed based on said data in order to stop the earth form changing. Who is more credible than NASA right

Yes the climate is changing and it always has. Its only been fairly stable for the last 12k years since the last ice age. The preceding 3/4 of a billion years of life was plagued by rapid and unstable climate shifts from one extrema to the other. If we as a species can travel to the fucking moon, colonize near space, defy gravity, and as a primitive people survive 3k years of ice age, I really think we can survive a little climate change. We did in the 13th -15th centuries as well.

Of course there will be a mass extinction event that will wipe us out some day. Weather that be plague, space rock, Gamma Burst, or self inflicted. Its bound to happen at some point, look at the Dinosaurs. They ruled the earth for a few 100 million years, not here any longer. We to will suffer from a similar inevitable fate.

I assume you're thinking of the hacked CRU emails?

"Hackers have broken into the database of the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit - and put the files they stole on the Internet. The 1079 emails and 72 documents seem indeed evidence of a scandal involving scientists pushing the man-made warming theory, suggesting conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organised resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and much more."

Although they said some not quite PC stuff, an examination of their "suggestive" emails reveal technical discussions using techniques well known in peer reviewed literature. Many quotes were taken out of context, making it seem much worse than it really was. Focusing on a few suggestive emails merely serves to distract from the evidence of man-made global warming.

They had a division, then new politicians came in and said it was crap, falsifying data and making it seem like a hoax. This was the cause of the jobs being reassigned.

George Bush, 2007 State of the Union Address:

And these technologies will help us be better stewards of the environment, and they will help us to confront the serious challenge of global climate change."
