^ not much. don't listen to the dreamers.

a Porsche motor will cost you a bunch for the motor (although 3.2 carerra motor would be the best choice for the $) and you are going to have to do custom fab. if you can't do that yourself, there is more $ you are spending.

you can easily do a 2332cc VW motor (84 stroke x 94 bore) with out getting into an aftermarket case.
do a little research and if you don't think that is enough HP, i have seen a 2332 intercooled blow through turbo'ed, fuel injected Puma. THAT is way more power than you will ever need in that car without major fabrication to fit a non factory based motor in there.

yea you could say i know a thing or 2. i started working for one of the bigger VW shops in PHX in 87 Building sand rails and motors. worked there until 96/97. then i was a porsche mechanic for 5 years where i was building race cars along with repair work. i built a 914-6 with a 190HP EURO 2.4S motor as a gift for my dad. ( i own it now as he can no longer drive it.)

i also do custom metal fabrication work.

i also built a 1958 rag top bug with a 1955cc blow through intercooled carb'ed motor when i was at the VW shop.
