    e30 touring tailgate.

I know this is a longshot, but how do you remedy a squeaky tailgate on an e30 touring?

      This/\

If the rubber gaskets are squeaking, you can use baby powder as a lube.

Is it squeaking when opening/closing or when driving? It's a long shot, but the newer BMW's sometimes have problems with seals creaking when driving which can be remedied by teflon tape on the body where the seal rests.

i was more thinking around the lines of the hinges being loose.

alright hotshot, lube is the answer, but after looking at it, i dont see any spots i can grease it up.

That's because the car is in your driveway, not mine.

I don't think the hinges are the issue ... make sure that the latch / hook are aligned properly and tight. Also, there is a rubber bump stop on either side of the tail gate that mates to a reciever on the body when closed - make sure that these bumpers are screwed out far enough that there is some tension on the gate when it's closed. If these bumpers are old, stiff or rashed, get new ones.

Lastly, make sure the squeeks and rattles are actually from the hatch ... the 2 storage compartment doors and all the misc. stuff packed inside could be the source of the noise (they where on my Touring)

                  good luck

The latch/hook was the problem on mine, it had to much play...
                    quick tightening solved the problem.
