I was pretty critical of the 5-er GT from interwebz photos, but then I saw it in the flesh and it definitely has some presence. A black one was at a local BMW dealership and I walked around it a few times. It is bigger than the 5er (I hear its actually based on 7 series bits underneath). The backseat is roomy as eff. Seats recline, not cramped at all.
The head scratcher for me is BMW said the American market doesn't prefer hatchbacks (a la short lived 318ti), but then they bring this over
JonRides...

DB e30s are hideous.
I still drive one.
There are lots of good vehicles out there that are ugly. Take the land rovers for example. I think they're fugly, but you can see well from the inside, and they're quite capable offroad.
It's a smart move by BMW. I have neighbors that don't own cars. Crossovers fill the "I don't want a minivan, a truck or a car, but it needs to be big and work like the minivan I'm pretending I don't have" role quite well.
