So get this my buddy had a friend selling his E30 and the original price was 900, we managed to get him down to 650 on it, but the next day he pulled a "Oh my friend already bought the car" on me, not even 2 days later this friend's mom wants him to sell the car, she didn't like it and he said he wanted it gone asap, 300$ dollars epic win for me, it's got lots of potential. Have a look tell me what you guys think? (I'm gonna be making another thread for the progression of the car as I replace and put stuff back together)

She has lots of potential!!! My friend is selling me his parts car for $200. Its an 91 318is. It needs a lot of work and the powertrain isnt included but im doing a turbo'ed m30 swap so I dont need the stock eng. anyways.

I'm not 100 percent on the rust situation yet, but it came with loads of goodies like it's already lowered, it's got a nice bucket seat, upgraded heads and cam shaft, the guy who put all that money in it is actually a good friend of mine he's stationed in California, he would have bought it long before I did if he was here in AZ.

Yes this was a major score for SHE30..

The car is a 325e with an "i" motor swap. Brand new rebuilt head that our buddy spent lots of money gettin it done with a schrick 284 cam. The car has fresh IE3 springs on billy sports with less than 8k on them. Yes the interior is pretty done for and everything is stripped out but in the back seat. We have to go through and see whats all there what is missing and start building a list.

if you ask me you paid about 200 too much for it. that car is going to break you before it ever looks really good.-- it is a good starting point though if you do know alot about these cars and have a painter as a best friend.

Even if the car does break, the parts alone are worth 5x what he paid.. So if there was absolutely no way to fix the car which is not going to happen he will make money on this.

The engine in this thing is super fresh. Like 3k on it, after lots of time new parts and money were put into it. I am pretty sure it will outlast almost all M20's in a lot of these peoples E30's.

The car does have a lot of potential though.

Makes loads of power, and I have lots of good memories in that car.

Danny, you are usually a pretty intelligent guy. And so is Mikeedler. But not today.

You must have been oblivious to the part where I said the head and cam has more than 3k on it. I built that engine, and I wasnt going to make such a ridiculous newb mistake.

The engine will be fine. I personally drove it to redline and WOT way too many times, without fail. There is no need to waste bandwidth with your unintelligent and unneeded 'thoughts' on the E30.

You can make fun of the horrid interior, which I agree is in need of lots of attention, or the paint, but the cammed M20 is definitely good to go.
