I think he was confused, and was talking about the price of the Sport Quattros....which really do go for that price.

These are now well over 70k if you can find one. Great examples sell for 125-150. I have a lead on one but not the $$$ at the moment.

Those are all long wheelbase Quattros.
They (in the states) range from 5K for a POS, up to 20K for a minter.
..except the last one, with white wheels, that's a 20v version...not avalible in the States. 30K for that one in nice condition.
The Sports (SWB) are in the price range you're speaking of.
Only 5 in the States.

You can grab a decent LWB Quattro, (Ur Quattro) for 10K, swap out the engine from one that is out of a '91 100, or 92-94 S4, which is very easily modded up to 400+ with easy bolt-ons.

With the stock Ur Quattro engine, you're looking at a peak modified HP of just a tad less than 300. (without spending more than the aforementioned swap)

Fabulous cars. Even stock (160-200 HP) they are a blast to drive, and very well much worth the hype.
