    Fucking QHosts Virus

Well, most of you most likely didn't notice, but I have not been here for a while due to the QHosts virus that was not letting me onto R3V. I used Norton to get rid of it, but it still didn't work. Then it came back and made things worse. Norton at that time could not find it on my computer, so I had decided to reformat my HD and start from new. Kill the bastard in it's tracks. Before I could do this, it seems to have dissapeared and I am able to go back on here again. I thiin Norton might have fixed it automatically after I updated it today, so, all the better! Now I just hope it doesn't come back (knock on wood).

Hard drive formatting.....kills anything on it

Never heard of QHosts though. What kind of executable file was it?

Macs just crash. As bad as a virus.

The ones in my schools labs are neat. OS X is fun.

                Sold it.

Yeah we don't want Josh asking for yet another thread to be closed. You know how he can get.

                      Macs are fine machines.

Clearly you don't work in a support environment for OSX with, how shall we say, "tenure-level" professors.

I thought OSX couldn't be chewed up & crashed, these people have proven me wrong. Thank god they've gotten away from the 9.1/9.2 legacy crap with Panther.

As for this Qhost's nonsense with Nitro, the updates & security patches for IE & XP have been out for 4 months, try updating and keeping up on security once and a while, you'll be a amazed.

I never said I wanted the thread closed.

Why do you have to intentionally try to start shit?

Accually I'm a Sys Admin for 2500 computer network, we have 22 X-servs and 15 Sun systems, and then some Lunix, and of course, a few Win-tell boxes, guess where most of my work is done?

We also have about 1/2 Mac/Pc environment.
Yes, os X can crash, but you have to work at it! next to any PC out there it's Golden!

Speaking of updates, it's almost a full time job updating all the dam computers! The Mac has updates like once a month and most do not need a reboot.

I was rebuilding a PC and was online to patch it, and the dam thing got a WORM!

Probably blaster. That son of a bitch is prolific and ferocious. At OSU we're blocking easily 100+ IP's a day that get infected, even at home, I see my cable modem light going ballistic from all the scans.
