My kids will learn to drive a manual car after they are conceived, birthed and grown up to that age. Its a vital skill and one that teaches you the real dynamics of driving.

'03 Legacy Wagon with all the options.. one owner, no kids, no smoking, OCD professional accountant so all service records since new. $5500 cash, and it's mint. We were so excited when we found it on craigslist, I left work early, got cash and we drove an hour and a half to seattle to buy it immediately. the only thing it needed were new plugs (they were GONE) and a new accessory belt. In the entire month we only actually found 3 manual outback/legacys, including the one we bought..

Only 2 days before, we almost bought one that wasn't nearly as nice for $8900! and they wanted to give us $2k for our trade in, we ended up selling that car privately for $3700.

People who drive manuals I think learn to be more aware as well, you can multiply that by 10 if they ride a motorcycle for a year in any city and are alive.

Yeah I've noticed that too. What'd you end up getting? You should PM me your initial thoughts and all that jazz on your new purchase.

I liked the story about the guys who tried to steal a car but had to give up because it was a manual and they didn't know how to drive it.. hahaha..

Though I've had limited exposure, I haven't been able to fully understand how to function SMG.

I'm just safer with 3 traditional pedals..

Completely agree. Driving a manual transmission should be a prerequisite to getting your license.

Don't worry I thought that too, I am there with you...

I taught my little sister to drive 5 spd and she is now looking for her first BMW WOOT!

All of my EXes and current woman text ALL day while driving. I think driving stick would solve a lot of issues. I take their phones when I am with them.

Plus it would make them pay more mind to the road and not just gas and go with half a brain. It is a 2,700lb+ killing machine in the wrong hands.
