i believe the 90+ cars have additional chassis features reinforced for safety reasons. I noticed that when I was reinstalling my dash from an early model car to my 90 325is and noticed some fitment issues. Moreover, the steering column in my airbag car is overall longer and different. Additionalyl there is a now a metal bar that goes right above your knee, hidden in the knee bolster.

overall, 1989 was a good year for the e30, elipsoids, mtech 1 steering wheel, popout rear windows. I would've settled for a pre 90 car but I needed a car in sterling silver

Read the thread. If it's just the bumpers then why is the 90-91 lighter than me too, by 84 lbs! I just want to know why the 89 is so special.
Those numbers aren't accurate-- at all. Check some other sources for the info. Nothing 'special' about '89 as far as lead sound deadening is concerned.

Yes, and the diving board assembly is equivalent to a dead steer on my car compared to my euro bumpers.

Why did you post this? Get out there and race him and see who wins. The car does not mean shit if the driver sucks. So do a couple mods and beat his ass. Trq wins off the line but he has more bhp too.

P.S. Be safe and have fun, also burnouts are fun but =losing so learn to hook up.

Both of you start from a slow rolling 1st gear & launch on your 3 beeps or wtvr.
You will pull ahead by a hood or more and stay that way for a couple seconds, then he will pull away from you by ~60 mph.
You will see his taillights around ~70ish.

This is what a light flywheel, 4.10lsd, chip, and on-point shifts from both drivers.
    Ask me how I know.

Have fun and don't be stupid though.
