I just picked up a 1985 325e for $500 about a week ago, so i am kinda new to the whole m30 scene. The body is in perfect shape but the motor is destroyed.

I was wondering what kind of swap i should do

I am a mechanic so i can do the swap myself, I am just not to sure on what swaps are available for this car.

I am looking for mainly, torque and acceleration. I am going to be driving it around town.

my buddy just bought an 06 ford mustang gt. my main goal is to be able to beat him.

And begging to differ, a 1985 325e with a 8-10psi turbo m52 will eat an 2006 Mustang GT.

If he gets traction in the e30. So, that 1985 325e w/ the rear end bender installed on his turbo s52 would eat a 2006 Mustang GT.

Good luck beating a 5th gen stang GT, they are not the fastest thing on the planet but you will need forced induction or a bolt-on S52.

Of course it beats an M6, it's an identical (but modified) motor in a lighter chassis. If you want to put that up against a mustang, I think it is only fair if you put it up against project Sniper:
