VANOS is NOT an on/off system. It continuously varies the intake timing for optimum power/torque/efficiency/etc.

Not the older single VANOS systems, the newer dual VANOS engines are.

So here is a bit of a noob question. NV=Non Vanos, correct? But what does TU stand for?

I would think sense you are using it for DD/tracking the tu would be what you are looking for. You get around the same performance and would get a bit better mpg for driving around town. Correct me if I am wrong, but that is what is sounds like you are looking for.
