Just use twistie ties or zip ties while the spring is still compressed to hold it. Ghetto but it works. Wear goggles. And just read that whole thread someone posted for you. It will explain everything, and if you can't understand the thread then have someone else do it.

It is just going to fly off a foot or so and maybe knock your hand back, no serious danger, just don't do it with the top facing your nutsack.

Um, depends on how old the springs and struts are. I advice before removing the springs put some weight on the top to compress them a bit and then clamp, tie or duct tape the coils. Then impact the nuts off.

P.S. To E30Kaiser my Uncle that owns a garage(his job/income) used to just clamp them and it gave way once. The spring hit the ground then his inside leg, it put him down for 6 weeks because of muscle damage. Compressed springs are nothing to mess with.

He now has a wall mounted strut compressor. Personally I enjoy the torch to remove the springs!
