    Sharpie car, should I?

So, here is the story. My car needs a repaint at some point. The whole car, minus the drivers fender, door, and rear quarter, looks like someone sanded swirls into it. However, the swirls are under the clear. You can't feel the scratches. Since I know it's going to be awhile before I paint it, I was thinking of doing something "artsy" with it, and I really like the sharpied E46.

My question: Is it cool to rip off this guys idea? Probably will do my own twist on it. But would do the hood and trunk like he did. I was an art major, although I haven't done anything in YEARS. The wife is even more gifted, so I am not worried with how it will come out.

    Pics for reference:

I would love to see it. What I don't understand is how the sharpie doesn't wear off? Do you clearcoat over it?

Pretty sure there is an e30 on here with similar artwork. I like it, you should do it.

Do it. It's not ripping. I get inspiration from what other people have done too. As long as you're cool about it and don't make like it's totally your idea, which you're obviously not. It'd be hot to see a sharpied e30. I though about it too, but with a bit of a twist I do not want to reveal....;)

Go for it! Maybe you will inspire someone to do an e36 and you guys can hook up and have a 3 series generational art car thing going on?

Do it, art is not ripping. You cannot do the same thing as what they did. So it is not going to be a rip off. DO IT!!!!!!!!!

I really like the arty side to it, why you say minus the rack i think it would look pretty cool with the rack too. If you inverted the front part of it and did tribal with white sharpie...just my opinion
