It's all about traction. The car just gets so unsettled dumping the clutch and between shifts. It's very difficult to get the power to the ground. Even with a 2.93LSD, first gear is too short for this kind of power. It's much easier to control the throttle action with an automatic and longer first gear. In addition I'll be adding a fancy boost control which can be tied to the tranny and give different levels of boost by gear and over time.
In the meantime, I am installing a 6 puck, solid center clutch and taking another shot at it in January. I want 12s with the 5 speed.
