i love that the mustang does it while still keeping the solid axle. i am not a huge mustang person but these new ones are really nice, extremely fun to drive, quiet inside, handle very well, nice interior etc.

But really, the bottom line is that you cannot replicate the screaming 8400rpm V8 sensation with a turbo inline-6 that's all midrange (like N54s are when you chip them). The NV in my car has a similar up-top type powerband that is really only rewarding if you wind it out, my first three gears top out at about 34/60/95mph. Still a very fun car to wind out.
I completely agree. It's a ton of fun to wind a motor out. The midrange of the m52 has really grown on me.

The thing is, winding out an e92 m3 means you're going FAST. It's just not the same to wind one of those out on the street as it is to wind out your m50. And that's why I'm saying I don't know if I could buy one just to use the on the street.

I had a HUGE smile on my face driving an 85 rx-7. I looked at the speedo and I was UNDER the speed limit while driving balls out in this thing.

I drove the e92 m3 to redline and felt well... bored. It needs room.

As will gunning it in any car with a lot of power. But if you only take it through first, you're at 40. First and second, you're at 70. It'll get there faster, but you're still redlining first and second and you're not really going much faster than an E30 325i doing the same.

It's just not the same to wind one of those out on the street as it is to wind out your m50.
Well yeah, it's got a lot more power. But the same "nothing special until you wring its neck" property is there, the NV is a dog until you hit around 5 grand and it comes alive. I'm just saying the E9x's gearing lets it be at redline/fun-zone at semi-reasonable speeds, just don't gun it through third or 4th and expect to blend in with traffic--which you really can't do with any car.

Haha. I've found there isn't much in the way of sense of speed in newer BMWs. That's cool and all, but ultimately frustrating as it just pushes you to go faster.

True, but you can hit 3-4k in a car with a lot of torque and it puts a different kind of smile on your face. Something I've learned with the m52, and driving anything balls out will always put a smile on.

I feel the same way. They are so smooth and tame, they become almost boring.
REally just need a few different cars. :p

                87e30 has NOT driven an E90 M3.

Plenty of midrange, insane top-end, steering is fantastic. Bone stock are knocking on 11 sec 1/4 mile times...................but you were bored? Hahahahahsha

the day I drove one I had just driven an E46 M3 as well, great car and I'd still like one at some point, but nothing about it was better than the E90.

Oh and I'll take my Mustang with a Griggs suspension, Jongblood wheels and 315s please.

modded 335 FTL, those cars are blowing turbos like no ones business!

new M3 FTL, BMW failed to put in proper brake ducting on the new M3 and instead route all air to the engine, I have seen brake pistons warp with heavy tracking on these cars.

This just proves that the T+T's of the grand am cup series have climbed up high enough at Ford to reach the production car. Im glad to see it honestly. Im never brand loyal to anything, despite the terrible dash and quirky looks I would buy this car.

The m3 obviously is still alot more car, (had to be there) just a tad overweight. Like someone else said, Id like to see the price difference between the two in europe, and tires would play a big part too.

Here is why I love my E30, and why I am not a fan of the E46 or E92 M3. Both of the cars are beautiful, they are cars you want to be seen in, I want to be seen in. I would love either car as a daily driver. But going to the track with one is a different story.

It is kind of like dating a super model or a chubby girl. You want to be seen with the super model but she is a dead fish in bed, the chubby girl is really nothing to look at, but will fuck you every which way from sunday! Sometimes the chubby chick is a better option.

I have taken people out of Ferrari's and Radical's and let them drive my E30. They have all had a blast, once you get in the car and get it right, it is so rewarding to drive, that is why I love my E30. She is not the best looking girl at the prom, but she is a sure thing, this blonde is a SLUT!

New Mustang KR and other hot variants are selling well more than I see V8 powered M3's.
My local dealer has discounted the new M3's 5K off ones in stock, don't see that often.

I drove the last variant Mustang GT and like it and honestly had been kicking around doing a Fox body LX 5.0 and maybe a 5 lug swap. They cheap tons of toys and fun plus there is a Spec Mustang class.

I valet, so I drive a lot of cars. Granted I wasn't in the e90 m3 THAT long but I did dart it around a corner and pull it to redline. I was expecting so much more that it left me kind of disappointed. All the other e90s I had driven left me much happier.

I think to really enjoy the e90 I would A) have to be a better driver and B) have a place to drive it hard (track)

The e46 felt more raw and it's still plenty quick.

Maybe there is a way to cut power in the car. I know the m5 and m6 do it. Which is why when I drive those I know they are lower on power.

Mercedes makes it easy... there is a C/S button for comfort or sport. CLK 63 AMG Black series... drool.
