    e30 front windshield fitment

Does anyone know if the front windshield glass for the e30 convertible is the same as the ones for the coupe and sedan, or are they are all different?

All the same. M3 is slightly different but interchangeable.

the vert has the metal part for the mirror to clip onto-- thats why its 1000000000dollars more expensive.

I cut the thing off my old vert window and glued it on the cheaper coupe window --works just fine.

^nope, its a button that glues on. like MR 325 says, all the same except for the M3. You should be paying less that $100 and installing it yourself.

Have you guys ever installed the coupe windshield into a convertible? The dealer and all the glass shops say they are different and that I shouldn't try it. Just wanted to confirm, thanks.

read my first post here......... it fits in , is the exact same size. the vert has a metal bracket piece glued to the windshield-- you need to take it off the old one with a razorblade and glue it on the coupe windshield with some "rearview mirror" glue-- to be had at any pepboys kinda store.

It'l fit just fine... they do have two different part numbers, but that is just because of the mirror button... just like everybody above has said.. Just make sure when you slice or chip off the button from your old windshield to make sure and glue it back on the new one in the same position... otherwise you end up with a mirror with a gangsta lean.. I tell people it is custom so my wife can adjust it easier....
                Good luck

The M3's are a glue in window, it was suppose to stiffen up the chassis. I think the big difference is the M3's have a black band around the inside of the window so you don't see the glue..... And just like everything else on an E30 M3, it costs more.....

The M3 windshields are cut by blonde virgins from solid pieces of the finest blocks of crystals from Xanadu, befitting the awesomeness of the car.

I thought they were redheads, looks like I was wrong again...... Although the blonde virgins do explain some of the price difference.... I sure hope I never have to replace mine....:D
