Help No Power Going To Coil

My car wont start, it turns over but doesn't start. I checked for spark got nothing so i then checked for power after the coil and again nothing, so i then used a multimeter to see if power was even going to the coil and there's none.
    • Which fuses and relays are specific to the ignition system?
    • Is there a fuse able link that i should check?
    • What are your other thoughts to why the coil is not getting power?

Nope that wouldn't affect power to the coil. Just if the DME switches ground and triggers the coil.

OP go to wedophones.com and DL the ETM (electrical troubleshooting manual) and read the diagrams.

It wouldn't hurt to let us know what year and model of car you have to begin with as well.

An M20 has a distributor and rotor doesnt it? Or ECU controls spark? Damn its been a while since I wrenched an M20.

Yeah it has a distributor and rotor and yeah the DME controls spark. Electronic distributor ignition, the DME opens the primary circuit by switching the ground instead of having breaker points do it.

OP the green wire (at least it's green on an 88, I just randomly chose an ETM to look at) is the positive to the coil, it comes from the ignition switch. I would check the connection on the ignition switch itself. Do your power locks work?

So the DME just enables the voltage to the primary via some sort of relay?

No the ignition switch gives a positive 12V the DME opens the ground side of the primary circuit. Then Optimus Prime show up and transforms 12v into 5000v and shoots it out of the rotor.

Pre 88 cars have a position sensor on the flywheel, on the transmission housing. if the pick-up is bad or the raised mark got knocked off. this issue will occur.
                    Much wow

check OBC code relay if you have a 13btn obc

                        under the d/s dash

                        that was my problem

sticky/failed relay means no power to the coil

on these car the no power will go to the coil if the engine position sensor is not triggered.
i know this because it happened me
