I like Ford's vision of the Mustang. The engine bay is far less cluttered than the previous body styles. Can't argue with the performance of the V6 or v8, and improved fuel. I'm just happy Ford is getting their act together in the capacity of fit/finish. I know some don't like the new Mustang body style (I didn't like the 2005 style), but I love the new '10 styling.

This comparison of the 5.0 and the M3 really caught my attention. Just a few years ago no one would've fathomed this side-by-side test yielding such close results. Ford has made some huge strides in recent years to make some great cars and this Mustang is one of them. I passed the article on to my brother and we debated the pros/cons of each. From purely a driving standpoint on a track day, the Mustang certainly can hold its own with fast company. In terms of build quality, fit & finish, etc. the BMW will probably hold up & look better over the long haul. Then there's the way each car delivers the driving experience. Ford has more low-end torque and isn't quite as precise in the turns....but its still good for what it is. The M3....well....that car has been the benchmark, the target of all other brands looking to compete in this segment. The BMW V8 screams but all the power is at the top yet the overall package seems to be a better product. From a driving standpoint, I guess it boils down personal preference: torque & grunt or refinement and top end punch. Not every car enthusiast shares the same likes/dislikes when it comes to these sort of things.

As an aside, the upcoming Boss 302 with its +40bhp over the standard 5.0, adjustable shocks, slight diet, available aero upgrades & DOT legal R-spec tires is going to be everything the 5.0 is and then some. How much more? Let the magazines it hash out and see what's what.

I meant, as soon as he said the Mustang had a better interior, he lost me.

Does the Mustang still have a solid rear axle?

Yes.....although it has been rumored that the next generation will be a world market platform that will come with independent rear suspension. Again, just a rumor so take it for what its worth.

I remember getting under the pre-facelift version of this model (2005, maybe?) when it first came out. I've worked on German cars for years now and being under a car with such an antiquated setup was a blast from the past.

It may be old but, they just proved it worked. It's especially good in drag racing.
