Mistakes happen. Some cost lives. I'm sure Mike is in safe hands.

a little fucking courtesy should be in order in a situation like this. grow up.

Not speaking for rwdrift here, but I didn't take it that way. I think he was just pointing out that we all need to drive carefully and within normal limits. Personally, I have tendencies toward a heavy right foot, and sometimes, things like this, are horrible and tragic reminders to behave on public roads. Mistakes DO happen and they DO somtimes cost lives. He just stated openly what prolly everyone of us was thinking. Bottom line, is just drive safely on public roads, and save the speedier stuff for the track. No, I don't know that he was speeding at all, but the message is still there, be careful.

reserving judgement and assumptions until all the facts are known is common sense, as well as the polite thing to do.

Understood and agreed. You are right, we don't know what happened. However, I think it is safe to say and not at all inappropriate considering the post, that everyone should try to drive carefully and sensibly as possible.

Even if he was pushing his car its something we do ourselves all to often and we need to make sure we are in circumstances that cant lead to a loss in life or significant injury. Nobody ever intends to wreck, even if its someone elses fault try to be denfensive enough so we minimize the risks.

            Be safe, rain or shine.

                That's a shame, saddens me a lot.

Mike Rieger was Daniel Coop's partner with the whole lowen design thing. Those were the two that were really behind the business before "you know who" royally messed everything up. The two of them were going to go into business together I believe to make BlackForest Industries, but last I heard, they had parted ways. Daniel was sticking with Blackforest and Mike was doing something else.

He was a great guy, helpful in sharing information, good at getting parts, a real positive influence on the e30 community, not like most of the trash out there. Truly a sad day. Rest in Peace Mike.

I am very very said to hear this news. I cant tell you how shocked I am to find out about this in this manner. As posted above Mike and I had parted ways over a year ago and have only talked on seldom occasions since to catch up. I used to spend many nights talking business with him long distance, making arrangements and such. Like a few of you attested, he was a very postive guy all the time, and I dont think I can ever remember him complaining about anything really. He was a great guy and a good friend and he will be missed for certain...

I also didn't know him, but from the general vibe sounds like he was a great guy. Rest in Peace Mike.

The end of the posted article confuses me though:
The woman driving the car had to be extricated by emergency crews. She was hospitalized, but was not seriously injured.

Police say the driver failed to see the truck and drove right under it. She may be charged with careless driving

Read a couple of paragraphs up from that:

Another accident between a car and tractor trailer happened in Denver shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday near Dahlia and Hale Parkway.

we should all take a second to reflect upon this.

Use it as a lesson and learn from it fuckers wrapping a car around a tree is fun to poke at when the person walks or limps away but this is what happens when it gets serious. We should all learn a lesson and know we are not invincible and we are not driving gods there are other variables there are not under our control.

I hope this dude is up there with the racing legends putting around the "Ring in the sky" with his car of choice. RIP.
