    Looking to buy a 318is

Hey I found this 318is e30 on craigslist, and I absolutely love these cars. I've never owned one. What should I look for when viewing the car? Tips/suggestions? Thanks.

Make sure it has all 4 wheels and tires. It'll be a PITA driving it home without them.

in other words, POST THE LINK!!

          And on a separate note, I am selling a 318is. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=179538

For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than to Google it for themselves.

Well, it looks like you live in San Diego.

The only two 318iS's on craigslist in San Diego both look really nice. Though $5,000 dollars seems way too expensive for a 4-cylinder.

there's a lot more info on m42club.com specific to the 318is and things to look for when buying one.

Things that come to mind are timing chain/gears (pointy teeth are bad, should have a flat section on top of the tooth), upper oil pan bolts tend to come loose, and the timing case profile gasket. Those 3 and more are covered very well at m2club as well as here if you scour the m42 section a bit.

check for rust in the battery tray, by the license plate lights and the rear valence.
