      the bad:
the hood is jacked, has a volvo lip, painted grill, nasty carpet, cracked dash, mis-matched bumpers (which takes welding to make the rears plastic as well), not the greatest springs, comfort seats, and is an eta.

      the good:
hood should be able to be adjusted, you can get an is lip, clean the carpet, put the diving board back on the front or finish the half done plastic conversion, you are lowered a bit, seats can easily be swapped, good dashes can be found at junkyards, you can do an engine swap, has nice weaves with caps.

i would say bitch about the bad stuff till you get the price around what you can afford to pay and make some changes assuming the body is straight and rust free. then work on it till you get it the way you like it.

how much would it cost to convert the back bumper to a plastic as well? Considering there's welding involved it sounds like a big deal.

Or you can save your money and get a better e30!

          Like this one: 1991 BMW 325IX coupe E30 - $3300 (covington)

Or this one: 91 BMW E30 - $3500 (Canton ga)

There are plenty more on craigslist near where you live.

Looks like a good deal as long as nothing was tweaked in the accident.

I'm actually not in that area. I'm pretty close to nashville. About 4 hours to knoxville though. Decent e30s, or e30s at all for that matter, seem hard to come by here.

Personally, I say an early body car is worth about $1200 in that condition IF it has the B25 motor and 5 speed. ETA motor takes off about $200, auto makes it $800 max.

How are your mechanical skills, young man? Tools? Decent place to work without parental stress? That makes all the difference right there...

                    Good luck.

Totally agree. IF the front end checks out okay, explain to him these details and that you're really looking for an "i" and that you'd have to do an engine swap, replace the dash, and that to YOU, the car is worth $1000.

Oh--and why is he selling it?*

Yeah, I've actually been re-considering this pretty heavily since last night. I just want a car so friggin bad haha.

As to why he's selling it, he said it's because "him and his friend work on and fix up BMWs and he's found a better one for himself so he's selling this one."

I would talk him down but, it looks decent. You can buy a plastic bumper that has been modified for an early model rear. The welding is required if you want the late model rear valence, which 99% of people do.

you really don't need to do any welding to get the rear plastics on. You can just go the cheap route and just swap the plastic on without the rear valence. Unless you have access to a pick and pull getting the rear valence is extremely hard.
