    Car feels stiff any ideas?

Hey whats up guys i got a 89 ix that i been restoring. Ive noticed that it seems to have a really stiff feeling about it. I cant really put my finger on what it might be. The suspension feels fine but it could be the cause. Also i was thinking it could be the seats. i got sport interior thats in ok condition but the seats are stiff and old feeling. any one have any ideas as what i might be noticing.

you seem to be confused. 'stiff' in a car chassis is a good thing. if you want a soft squishy boat-like ride, buy an Oldsmobile!

no, i know. i have a 02 civic si with suspension and body stiffing braces on the car and it dosnt handle nearly as well as the ix but the cars ride is much more comfortable. The feeling of the ix is weird i cant really put my finger on it. i have a bent front strut that could be the clupret but i really dont know. and yes i realize comparing my 02 civic to a 89 bmw is like comparing apples and cows.

really, the e30 is just an older car with sportier suspension. its a little more 'crude' if you will. id imagine though, that if its feeling a little rough, it probably needs new suspension bushings (not new springs/struts)

Chances are your struts are blown, not just bent. Throw on some new dampers and replace the bent housing.

Those will effect the feeling of your car more than you think.

Yeah if the bent strut can't compress and is acting like a solid beam transferring the road directly to your strut tower that could feel a little stiff, until it punches through then it'll be all better.

Replace struts and strut mounts. Did this over the weekend and my car feels worlds better.
