Oil light came on after washing engine

I just finished cleaning the engine with degreaser and water, went for a ride and I noticed the oil light in on on the overhead display, use to have the washer fluid light on now its the oil light. The oil looks fine, level was good, any suggestions?

Washing engines, and not covering the electrical related parts often causes problems.
It sounds like you have water shorting out the connection on the sensor.
You should pull the leads off the sensor, and spray some water displacing fluid on them, (wd40) and re-install.

Either your oil level sensor got wet/ came unplugged or it is a coincidence and ur a tad low on oil. Some oil lights come on at different levels than others even if your dip stick level is good. Depending on your oil level you could add half a quart and see if it goes away or check the connection of your oil level sensor.

its most likely that your oil sensor got unplugged. if is an m20 it would be on the intake side on low the block around 1/3 of the way back from the front.

Yeah my oil level sensor on my e34 oil pan on the s52 just started coming on when I corner hard. Funny thing is I haven't lost any oil.

Well I went back to the car and added a quart just in case and checked the sensor and switch wires, couldn't believe how grimy it was under there I need to clean the under next with some degreaser... Anyways the light went away and has stayed off.
