My first trip to the Ring and an E30 meet!

*2nd round of pics start at post #29

I haven's uploaded all the pics yet, but wanted to share what I have already. I'll get to the rest later this week.

So, I am lucky in that my boss here in Holland happens to be a track junkie and does 50+ laps a year at Nurburgring. Has a s/c'd E46 M3 that's out for the rest of the season but he just took delivery on his new RX7.

He has an RX7 buddy in the UK that imports them from Japan. Lot of cars prepped for the track go for cheap on their auctions. Was delivered to London about a month ago, had the cage put in, harness, new seats, and a tune. With the injectors maxed out at .6bar, it put down 370 to the wheels. So, not super car fast, but the suspension and brake setup are amazing and with traffic did about 8:20 laps.

So got there Friday afternoon, got a few laps in and then went back to the hotel and had dinner and beers. Met up with a bunch of BMW and Miata brits staying at the same place and had some more beers.

Saturday was a wash, rainy, pretty shitty overall. Had dinner at the Pistenklause, the restaraunt/hotel Sabine Schmitz grew up and worked in. Pretty cool place with memorabilia all over. Walls signed by thousands of visitors. Steak served on a hot stone.

Funny you say that, we had to move seat back, re-adjust harness, remove and replace roll cage padding with thinner stuff just so i could keep my head straight.

My boss is good friends with Ron Simons from RSR, a shop 2 minutes away from the gate. They rent out track cars, give instructing, taxi rides, etc. They had some great guys there and a really nice shop.

Inboard brakes on the alfa's, wierd huh? Guess it was for better balance

Sunday came. We headed back to the shop to make some adjustments to the suspension. Rear end was bottoming out at a few spots, mainly the carousel, so we raised it about 3/4" and stiffened it up just a tad.

Went out for a lap but was still too damp at 9:00. Of course, people were still impatient and went out anyways. Saw many nice cars come back wiped out.

Hung out at the cafe waiting for better condition.

Probably an awesome tour to take.

Just some randoms throughout the day at the gate

                  Mosler

There were some fast Honda's out here. Another civic hatch was fighting off the Porsches all day long.

There were enough GT3's, GT3RS's, and 911's in general to last a lifetime. They've lost a certain appeal to me now after seeing so many.

                  The lone GT2

This thing made potato-launcher sounds followed with 2 ft flames.

I was strapped in and too lazy to get out at the gas station to take better pics, but a really clean Hartge E30 came in

Midday, there was a really bad accident. Was taken away by helicopter.
Track closed down for almost 2 hours. Other entrance at Adenau.

Driver: Good luck with recovery if you made it and RIP if you didn't.

There are a ton of amazing cars there! I love the rx-7. Such a nice car! I think that first restaurant may be the one that Jeremy studied the map of the Ring in the Top Gear episode when he drove the Jag aroun the track.

Came back to the Hotel for a break around 4 when all of a sudden half a dozen mint E30's pull in. I'm like, wtf? So I strike up a chat and turns out they're have a get together in 30 min and wanted to come check out the castle behind us before heading out there. I told them (didnt ask) that I would be following them, lol.

First time i'd seen a power top, fully functional

One of the brits came out of the bar and asked if he could come too, I said of course and he offered to drive. Took the "shortcut" by getting on the ring. He was driving his E36 M3 Evo, bone stock and gave me a bigger grin than the Rx7. This thing had it all man, overall, very impressed. Great driver as well, organizes ride alongs for UK enthusiasts.

Someone needs to buy this!!!! Let me know, I can arrange it!!

Best two for last. Both MINT and both gave me reasons to change my underwear.

                          MT2 had a M30 swap

...certainly not least, an '87, green on a complete light green houndstooth sport interior MT1

Like I said, I have a bunch more, but won't have a chance to upload till later this week. Hope you enjoyed!
