edit: "Easy" is a bit subjective. You can still orange peel a coat, but it is more forgiving than most automotive paints. Paint in low humidity and around 70deg. Apply coats thinner than you think you need. Space coats by ~5 minutes.
The first few coats have to be EXTREMELY thin, you would not believe how easily that shit runs. After a few very thin coats, I start going heavier after that. I'm actually going to do mine soon, because no matter how many times I do it with DupliColor Trim Paint, I get chips in a few days.

not true, i special ordered clear plastidip in spray form from the helpful place when i color matched the surround in my S4's grill to the center section, to prevent chipping of the paint. you can also get red, blue, and yellow iirc. you are right about it being inexpensive & effective, though. it kept the paint from chipping on my grill when i was living in colorado, where they basically use pea gravel as "sand" in the winter during storms. i'd do clear plastidip spray or clear bra i think the former might be a bit easier.

I used clear vinyl. Worked like a charm, paint was the only part that wasn't fucked up after I ripped it off and ran over it.

Yea, Plastidip comes in 5 colors plus clear.

Use 99 cent flat black spray paint, I just hit my IS lip every time I wax the car.
