How far are you comfortable driving you car?

When it's over 110F, my car is very uncomfortable going more that a mile and a half or so, when the interior heats up like a pizza oven. This sucks as the E30 is my daily driver, and it's over 110F for four months here.
I realize this isn't what the PO meant, but it's still true.Leave a comment:

Melbourne to NJ and back is not a problem in the 318is. I always have a basic ratchet set and some spare oil and coolant for long trips though.
I bought a 325e in Austin earlier this year sight unseen and drove it back to Melbourne. The car wasn't maintained at all but it made the trip with a few stops along the way due to a shitty fuel pump. Once it sat for a bit and cooled, it fired right back up and drove for a few more hours. These cars are fucking tough.Leave a comment:

I drive my car constantly on several thousand mile trips without issue on a normal basis.Leave a comment:

I'd take it just about anywhere once I get an actual new battery, and a diff bushing.Leave a comment:

At this point, I drive it about 100m and that's about as far as I want to go just in case something does happen, but then again I'm still working on tuning it and the turbo setup only has a few hundred miles under it's belt....still have a few bugs to work out. Once I flush coolant this weekend and maybe do an oil change I'll feel better, just because I want to make sure the hg isn't leaking.Leave a comment:

drove to tail of the dragon and roads around the area and back, total of about 6 hours each way, plus a days worth of driving. No problems with my e30, can't say the same for others. Well, I did have one problem -- it wouldn't touch anything above 90, and would lose speed up hills.Leave a comment:

Been to Miami and back a 3 years ago... and then to Melbourne 2 years ago. The first trip was a total of ~3000 miles, and the second was a few hundred less. That is with the low mileage 318is (~30,000 on motor for first trip). I have taken my wife's 325 eta to Dallas and back with no problems... great mileage too (~35mpg).
Maintenance is king with these. Keep up with your T-belts, oil changes, water pumps, and plugs. They'll run forever.Leave a comment:

So sorry i'm on a 26 hour day. we do make bloopers every now and then. It was meant as 1000 miles or 1K and in my sleepy mode it came out as bumble fingers.Leave a comment:

well with no headlights, turn signals, radio, license or insurance, not far + plus with 4.10 gearing and 100 octane it would get expensive, but other than that, I would drive it anywhere. If it can handle hours on end at redline, it can handle whatever mileage you want to throw at it!Leave a comment:
