I get 20-22 mpg city well into mid thirties freeway though ... I'm running a stock set up except the Turner Motorsports chip using 91 octane. -
interesting. I wonder how much difference it would make in my m20.Leave a comment:

ohhh i see. i was about to bash you for putting eco box shit junk before e30 hahaActually is a company car I am looking to get. They did mention the afore mentioned by me in the previous post. I however have such a soft spot for E30's. Currently own a 325i vert with 72000 original miles. Wifes car, all original excellent shape. Would never sell. So I am looking to trade my company vehicle ('07 FJ Cruiser) for another more economical one, since we're just buying a house upstate and my commute will now be 63 miles each way, as oposed to 3 miles. My first and only choice was the e30 318 since I've owned one before and I know the car is reliable. I just have to sell the idea to the boss. I guess it'd be easy since they won't have to spend much money. The'd be saving a wagon of cash rather...
a 2.93 makes a world of difference. Basically you go from 70 mph @ 3200 some r3v with a 4.10 down to 70 at like 2200-2500 r3vLeave a comment:

2.93 w/ an m42? Anything done to it, or stock?
Must be interesting to drive.
On the highway cruising at higher speeds it'd make sense, city though...I don't really think the engine has enough torque. :-?
...hmph, kinda makes me wana refresh the spare s2.xx and try it my car, if only for the laughs.Last edited by Eecen; 10-11-2010, 07:44 PM.Leave a comment:

that would be one cool company if they get you an e30 as a company car. hardest part there might be proving reliability.Leave a comment:

Mine gets 25 city and 30.9 in the mountains. On the interstate it gets 27.3 @ 75 MPH.Leave a comment:

The best I've seen on a long drive was 37mpg. Worst was 24. No PS, electric fan, 3.64 diff, EV6 injectors.Leave a comment:

only plus to one of those eco shit boxes is a warranty and no break down fears (well less).
but i try to tell people that alot... get a cheaper older beater that gets good gas mileage (e30 is top of that while still being extremely fun car) and just spent a tiny fraction of what you would with a new eco shit box.. save on insurance.. get maybe 5-8 mpg worse (sometimes even better) and not deal with a car payment or any other nonsense.Leave a comment:

mine gets mid 20's at least in city and over 30 on the highway with 4.10 gears and something well over 300k miles. i run 87 with some chip that should have premium lol.Leave a comment:

So swapping the diff would practically put me WELL over the 3Ompg range? That's great, I can now drop the fit, yaris and all others from my potential list, and just go ahead and get me the 318is i found. Great, thanks for the help guys.Leave a comment:
