Checking out an e30 cabrio tomorrow

Hey guys. I am going to check out an e30 cabrio tomorrow. It is near salt lake city, utah. I have some questions that I don't know answers to.

What are the common places for these 'verts to leak? (like where should I look for signs of leakage)

Are cars from salt lake city going to have rusting problems from the salt in the area? Because I am going to keep the next E30 that I buy for a LONG time, and I don't want the poor thing to get cancer.

I think that is it. anything else you guys know of that I should look for? I will obviously do all the regulat checks i do as well.

Common areas of rust for e30s are: rockers right behind the front and rear tires.. look at the jack point behind the front tires and the area under the battery tray behind the rear tires. right around/above the license plate area as well... for leaks.. take her to a self wash and have some fun :-D

This is one of the best BB I have ever been on. And I have been on a lot of nissan/toyota/4x4 boards. There is a lot of activity, but it doesn;t move so fast you miss all of it.

Thanks for the info. I still need to find out if that salt will do the same thing as the de-icing salt though.

also you can pull up the back seat to see if there's any rust spots around there. who knows they might have left the top down when it rained once or twice.

Mine leaked from the seams that run the length of the top (before I replaced the top) Also where the top meets the window frame in the far corner (again before repalcement.)

          Good luck
