    what would you do...

i posted this in the mkIV forum to get there opinion and i figured i would hear your guys side of it as well...

so i wasn't necessarily looking to get rid of my TDI but i came across something that definately peaked my interest. i'm starting to think about it more and more and would like some input from those who know these cars better than I.

What I have... 2003 PG Jetta TDI. 130xxx miles. Heated leather interior, mint. Front and rear bumpers are ****ty because I am currently building a r line + rub for the front and a surprise for the rear. Lowered on an H&R cup kit. One spot of bubbling paint on the bottom edge of one fender.

What he wants to trade straight up for... The mintiest of the mint 1991 BMW 318 with 155xxx. Inside and out looks pretty much perfect.

Talk me into or out of this trade. Any info would be much appreciated (for either car).

The 318 looks mint but I would think your 03 TDI should be worth more.
    RWD trumps FWD though.

if the 318is is as mint as you say it is I'd do it with some cash on top coming from her part of the trade. That tdi is prolly worth around 5500.

^Agreed, if you really want it, it looks like a great specimen. See if he will throw some cash on top. If your car really is worth close to seven I would ask for prolly around 3k-3.5k on top.

Super clean 318is can sell for $6000 around here, but probably quite a bit less for a 4 door.

if this were me I would ask for 1.5k on top and trade.

Despite the e30 being mint of the mint, it has 20k more on the (much) lower powered m42. If you do decide to trade, you should get a solid 2-3k in cash with it. Use it to swap an m50 into it and it's a perfect trade.

                        That can't be a is on second thought. It's a 4 door. I am 100% sure they didn't make the 318is in a 4 door.

It looks like a slicktop is. 4 doors were made in 91. Id take that baby in a minute. 2-3k on top of your Jetta and bam. Done!!

Slicktops are very rare and desirable.
